All award applications must be completed in September each year and sent to the District Royal Ranger office by September 30th. The points recorded on the forms must represent those earned from September 1 - August 31, except when notated by (*). Once applications are received in the District Royal Ranger office, awards will be ordered and mailed to outposts. All awards are restricted and can only be ordered through the Royal Ranger office.
The fees for the awards are: Draped Medals $18.00, Ribbons $3.50, and Numerals $3.00 (includes postage).
Service awards have long been an integral part of the Royal Rangers program, for both adult leaders and boys. But over time, the format of these awards has been subject to change. In 2010 a new lineup of awards was created, many of which replaced previous awards which provided recognition for similar activities. The table below describes which awards have been replaced, and identifies the new award that should be substituted in its place.
The following guidelines should be followed in relation to these awards:
If an older award (left column) has been earned, but the associated new award (right column) has not yet been earned, the original award may be worn.
If the new award (right column) has been earned, the new award should be worn IN PLACE OF the old award (left column). Only one may be worn, not both.
Numeral designations are cumulative across both the old award and the new award. For example, a leader who has earned the Gold Eagle Award five times, and then earns the National Leadership Award, may wear a number 6 on his award ribbon to designate the cumulative number of times he has earned the two medals.
It should be noted that the new, replacement awards may be worn only after an individual qualifies for the new award. They are not automatically received by virtue of having earned the old award.
